Fleet Manager Position Summary

Maximize profit and return on investment by achieving objectives, serving customers, and ensuring company stability and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute plans to deliver cost, quality, service, and reliability results in the maintenance plan.
  • Monitor, analyze, and modify fleet and equipment operations to maximize return on investment and manage costs.
  • Manage leases, contracts, and administration for fleet services vendors, ensuring they meet corporate requirements and cultivating ongoing relationships.
  • Compile status reports and program results for senior management and advise on program, policy, and contract changes.
  • Develop and execute technician training programs.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure support solutions are in place.
  • Lead and align operational teams to ensure fleet reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
  • Develop region-specific strategic plans to drive improved fleet performance.
  • Identify and lead actions to support field business challenges and opportunities.
  • Engage with industry peers, professional organizations, government, and non-government organizations to align with industry best practices.
  • Contribute to a diverse, inclusive, and fair work environment, free from discrimination, bullying, and harassment.
  • Perform all duties in line with Company policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Familiarity with Commercial Drivers Licensing requirements
  • Familiarity with Commercial Truck registration requirements in Canada, including Canadian Provinces
  • Effective interaction and partnership building skills with customers, ops, and external suppliers
  • Critical thinking, strong analytical skills, and data-based approach to decision making
  • Analytical skills, including synthesizing complex information, collecting and researching data, and designing work flows and procedures
  • Problem-solving skills, including identifying and resolving problems, gathering and analyzing information, and developing alternative solutions
  • Delegation skills, including delegating work assignments, matching responsibility to the person, and providing recognition for results
  • Leadership skills, including inspiring and motivating others, influencing actions and opinions, and providing vision and inspiration
  • Managing people skills, including including staff in planning, decision-making, and process improvement, and developing subordinates' skills and encouraging growth
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor's degree, MBA, or advanced degree a plus
  • 10+ years of fleet industry experience
  • 15+ years of technical team leadership experience
Work Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Ability to work flexible schedules
  • Ability to be on-call at various times
  • Normal setting for this job is dual: indoor office and at a maintenance shop managing a team of mechanics
  • Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required as per task
  • Travel Requirements Outside the Project: Less than 10%
