About the Opportunity

The University of Toronto's Department of Sociology invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in the Sociology of Health and Mental Health. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct innovative and independent research at the highest international level and maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
  • Teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a focus on the Sociology of Health and Mental Health.
  • Contribute to the development of the department's research and teaching initiatives, and participate in departmental and university service.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in Sociology or a cognate program with a marked emphasis on social science and health.
  • Established international reputation and a demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching.
  • Strong evidence of research excellence, including a record of sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals.
  • Excellent teaching and mentoring skills, with a strong commitment to student success.
