Role Overview
The Construction Project Manager plays a crucial role in guiding the project team and is accountable for the seamless execution and successful conclusion of construction initiatives; ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. This role encompasses involvement from the initial concept through to organization, execution, and final contract closure.
Key Responsibilities
Takes a pivotal role in project planning, financial forecasting, and resource allocation Develops a comprehensive construction execution timeline and ensures that tasks progress as planned Analyzes and comprehends the entire contract, negotiating any unfavorable terms and conditions Conducts value engineering and feasibility assessments Provides clear guidance to the project team, ensuring optimal use of resources (labor, materials, and equipment) Guarantees that site safety and environmental regulations are adhered to and conducts risk assessments and mitigation strategies Secures all necessary permits and licenses Negotiates and drafts initial contracts, as well as revising and modifying agreements with subcontractors and suppliers Inspects and evaluates projects to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, procedures, and other criteria that influence project success Develops, implements, and supervises effective quality assurance programs Prepares and submits budget forecasts and progress tracking reports Takes proactive measures to manage and alleviate the impacts of delays, adverse weather, or emergencies May undertake additional related tasks as necessaryRequired Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Red-Seal Journeyman Certificate, or a related field 3 – 5 years of experience as a Project Manager or in a comparable role within the construction sector This position is also an excellent opportunity for a superintendent, project engineer, or general foreman with formal training in construction or project management seeking to expand their responsibilities and advance their career Experience with a general contractor in the ICI sector is preferred Familiarity with construction terminology, practices, scheduling, costs, and budgeting Experience in developing traditional hard bid estimates and knowledge of construction costs and budgets; preference will be given to candidates with design-build experience transitioning from conceptual estimates to hard bids Ability to effectively plan and adhere to project timelines Capacity to inspire, lead, and enhance team morale Strong negotiation, organizational, time management, and coordination abilities Logical decision-making skills and the ability to manage pressure Proven capability to build successful teams, effectively motivate individuals, and maintain relationships Exceptional communication skills, confident in interacting with key stakeholders in verbal, written, and electronic formats Proficient in Excel, Word, Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft ProjectBenefits of the Position
