Lead Actuarial Consultant - National Projects

Compensation: At Wawanesa, we recognize that salary is just one part of a comprehensive and competitive benefits package we offer our employees. Alongside salary, both full-time and part-time permanent employees are eligible for an annual bonus plan, leave of absence top-up programs, and generous vacation time, personal days, premium-free benefits, and a pension plan. The salary for this position is determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labor market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity, and the knowledge, skills, experience, and expected proficiency in the role. The estimated salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $150,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside this range are still encouraged to submit their applications.

As a Lead Actuarial Consultant on the National Projects team, you will be tasked with spearheading national pricing initiatives that enhance the sophistication of our pricing methodologies for all Property & Casualty products across various lines of business and regions. A key responsibility of the National Projects team is our Personal Lines indication process, in which you will play a leading role, refining our methodologies and communicating findings and insights to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical leadership in our indication process.
  • Offer indication methodology recommendations in response to emerging trends or events.
  • Based on indication outcomes, convey profitability outlooks and other critical insights to senior leadership.
  • Advance our practices in estimating and elucidating loss and premium trends.
  • Oversee projects from inception to completion, including those involving multiple analysts.
  • Assess pricing processes and procedures, identifying opportunities for enhancement.
  • Provide regular project updates to stakeholders, anticipating challenges and proposing potential solutions.
  • Actively seek opportunities to provide feedback, guidance, and development support to help others excel in their current or future roles.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Over six years of experience in Property & Casualty actuarial work is preferred.
  • FCAS designation is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to tailor complexity to the audience.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Python, and Radar is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, including coaching and leadership abilities.
