This position is integral to our data analytics initiatives across various projects that influence critical business sectors: Data Analytics, Commercial Insurance, Personal Insurance, Claims Processing, Marketing, and Fraud Prevention.

Our primary goal is to identify key business areas and implement strategies where data analytics can drive growth, enhance profitability, and streamline operational efficiency at Aviva. The responsibilities of the team leader encompass identifying opportunities and overseeing the lifecycle of products and outputs from conception to implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and nurture a high-performing technical team dedicated to data analytics.
  • Provide professional development and learning opportunities tailored to the team's needs, drawing from the leader's technical knowledge in actuarial science and data analytics.
  • Supervise the creation of data analytics products, models, and other data-driven outputs, offering technical guidance as necessary.
  • Foster strong collaboration with relevant stakeholders, technical teams, and users throughout the organization.
  • Bridge the gap between insurance professionals, data analysts, and engineers to prioritize data-centric solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with business partners to identify daily challenges and significant opportunities for innovation and growth.
  • Maintain regular communication with business leads and managers of affected business areas.
  • Engage directly with users of insights, tools, and processes.
  • Utilize data to inform decisions while empathizing with user experiences.
  • Provide data innovation, support, and insights to key business sectors.
  • Monitor models to ensure the ongoing quality of pricing methodologies.
  • Develop tools that enable non-technical users to access actionable data and insights.
  • Enhance the integration of data analytics into essential business functions, whether through new initiatives or improvements to existing processes.
  • Communicate and present data analytics solutions, results, and outcomes to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in an Actuarial Science or Data Science-focused organization or team.
  • Proven experience in leading technical professionals in managerial or senior technical roles is preferred.
  • Candidates with experience applying data analytics in the Property & Casualty insurance sector are ideal.
  • Proficient in at least one programming language, preferably Python, with the ability to mentor others.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both senior leadership and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of UI/UX design principles and their impact on user experience.
  • Ability to evaluate and enhance the usability and design of solutions.
