Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides high-quality psychiatric nursing care to in-patients who experience addiction and mental health challenges. As a key member of the interprofessional healthcare team, the LPN utilizes nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to deliver safe, quality patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide competent care utilizing theory-driven, research-based nursing knowledge and specialized addiction and mental health nursing skills.
  • Form therapeutic relationships with patients and their families to promote positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Contribute to a safe and supportive environment that fosters patient well-being and recovery.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • English language skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent experience on an Acute Care Addiction and Mental Health unit.
  • Computer skills using Alberta Health Services computer applications/programs (Netcare, Medworxx, Outlook, Connect Care).
