Position Overview
The Physiotherapist plays a crucial role within the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services, reporting directly to the Program Manager. As a vital member of a multidisciplinary clinical team, the physiotherapist collaborates with colleagues to establish team objectives, evaluates team performance, addresses challenges, and shares responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients experiencing functional limitations, pain, or disabilities in a tertiary care environment.
- Educate and communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including other healthcare professionals, patients, families, and caregivers regarding health promotion, physiotherapy interventions, and pain management strategies.
- Supervise and evaluate physiotherapy students, as well as oversee the work of physiotherapy assistants and aides.
- May be required to provide services across the entire Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio.
Qualifications
We invite applications from candidates who possess the following:
- A Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapy and eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
- Continuing education in a relevant area is advantageous.
- Current certification in CPR.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in additional languages is a plus, with a preference for French.
Work Schedule
- This is a long-term, full-time position requiring 75 hours bi-weekly.
- Shifts will be scheduled over a 7-day week, including weekends and holidays.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage for this position is $42.89. Successful candidates may also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
