Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging instruction to learners in the Architectural Technology curriculum.
  • Create and maintain a learner-focused educational atmosphere utilizing an outcome-oriented strategy in both in-person and virtual formats.
  • Design and present educational materials, assignments, lectures, and demonstrations based on adult learning principles.
  • Develop innovative course content, instructional aids, and resources as necessary.
  • Utilize digital tools effectively, including standard architectural software and general office applications.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs through various instructional strategies.
  • Plan and execute educational content and activities that honor the values, beliefs, and contributions of a multicultural community.
  • Provide constructive evaluation, assessment, and feedback to students.
  • Address special learning requirements, ensuring inclusivity for equity groups and diverse learners.
  • Collaborate with relevant external partners and employers to support students in gaining practical experience.
  • Engage in professional development to stay informed about industry and educational standards.
  • Guide students regarding educational pathways, industry expectations, and career aspirations.
  • Work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Participate in program and institutional meetings.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Possession of a diploma or degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline (e.g., Interior Design).
  • Eligibility for membership or certification with IDAS, SAA, APEGS, or TPS at an A.Sc.T. level, as applicable.
  • A minimum of five years of industry experience, with at least two years being recent and relevant.
  • Proven instructional capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and recent experience with drafting software, graphic or visualization tools, internet applications, email, MS Office Suite, and adaptability to evolving technology.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to valuing diversity in the educational setting.
