Job Description

Sotera Health is seeking a highly skilled Logistics Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for coordinating shipments by air, ocean, and truck, including import and export customs formalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate cost-effective transportation arrangements for shipments, including radioactive Cobalt-60 shipments and non-radioactive shipments to global customers.
  • Handle and book shipments by truck, air, ocean, export, and import.
  • Contact third-party freight forwarders or trucking carriers for shipment pre-planning arrangements and issue shipping instructions.
  • Complete accurate and timely import and export commercial documentation and various in-transit airport/port forms.
  • Conduct conformity verification of all documentation at time of shipment preparation.
  • Consult with internal and external stakeholders to review information required for specific products being shipped to and from abroad.
  • Monitor and track shipments to final destination.
  • Collect customs documentation from vendors and file customs entry declarations and ISF filing in a timely manner with the appropriate customs broker.
  • Communicate with foreign customs agencies to obtain information about import regulations and procedures in order to comply with Canada and U.S. Customs laws.
  • Read, monitor, and respond promptly to all incoming communications in order to properly manage and control daily operational issues.
  • Build and maintain good relations with customers and carriers.
  • Solve internal and customer complaints diligently and efficiently while implementing measures to prevent their frequency and recurrence.
  • Improve internal systems and procedures to favor customer service and departmental efficiencies.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in logistics and transportation.
  • Post-secondary education in logistics field is an asset.
  • Preferably a background in Dangerous Goods handling and transport.
  • Familiarity with B3 customs form, tariff classification, and USA and Canadian Customs import and export regulations.

  • Experience working within a regulatory environment is an asset.
