As a member of the GSPS, you will leverage cutting-edge techniques and technologies to aid in the prevention, detection, and mitigation of criminal activities.
You will receive comprehensive training to utilize information effectively and draw upon your expertise to deliver exceptional service to our community.
Officers engage in a dynamic career within patrol operations, working closely with the community to prevent, identify, and investigate criminal acts, with future opportunities available in specialized divisions such as:
- Break Enter and Robbery (B.E.A.R.)
- Community Engagement Section (C.E.S)
- Courts
- Criminal Investigations (C.I.D.)
- Drug Enforcement (D.E.U.)
- Financial Crimes
- Forensics
- Intelligence
- Internet Child Exploitation (I.C.E.)
- Professional Standards (P.S.B.)
- Rural Community Response
- Tactical
- Traffic
- Indigenous Liaison Office
Essential Qualifications:
- Must be a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident of Canada
- Minimum age of 18 years (as per provincial regulations)
- Good moral character with no unresolved criminal record
- Physically and mentally capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of a Police Officer. Candidates must achieve and maintain a Level 7 or higher in the Leger 20m Shuttle Run, along with passing a medical and psychological evaluation.
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (O.S.S.D) or equivalent (i.e., grade 12 from any province in Canada). Candidates educated outside Canada should refer to the relevant authorities.
- Current Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (O.A.C.P) Certificate or OACP Certificate Equivalency.
- Submission of a Fitness Log
- Post-Secondary Education is advantageous, though not necessarily in a law enforcement-related field.
- Volunteer experience demonstrating commitment to Community Mobilization and Engagement is considered beneficial.
- Proven ability to meet Essential Competencies through educational, professional, and personal experiences.
- Bilingualism is an asset. Proficiency in any additional languages (e.g., French, Ojibway Cree, Arabic, Portuguese, etc.) is highly valued.
