Senior Director, Accounting Policy and Governance

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to join our team as a Senior Director, Accounting Policy and Governance. As a key member of our Enterprise Finance team, you will play a critical role in shaping our accounting and disclosure policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing expert guidance to our business leaders.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of professionals to provide valued accounting advice on complex matters to internal stakeholders across RBC
- Review and assess complex accounting transactions and policy assessments for compliance with regulatory requirements
- Oversee the delivery of critical elements of our quarterly external reporting process, collaborating closely with other areas of the Chief Accountants Group
- Develop and deliver Audit Committee materials that tell the RBC story with a commercial/business lens, focusing on key judgment areas and highlighting the role of finance
- Drive transformation of the Auditor Independence function to streamline activities while mitigating risk, including re-imagining how the Auditor Independence office engages and partners with key stakeholders
- Assess, evaluate, and respond to new accounting requirements impacting RBC, ensuring the impact is well understood by stakeholders across the bank
- Shape future accounting and disclosure requirements by leading advocacy efforts on accounting-related issues
- Build and develop strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation
- 10+ years of relevant work experience
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS and U.GAAP
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively to executives
- Strong leadership and people management skills with ability to empower the team
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proactive and forward-thinking approach
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to act as change agent, facilitator, and collaborator
