About the Role
The Rehabilitation Specialist operates under the guidance of the Program Manager. This role involves collaborating with clients, their families, and caregivers to enhance, restore, or maintain optimal functioning in self-care, productivity, and leisure activities. The Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services within various settings including hospitals, clients' homes, and community environments.
The Rehabilitation Specialist develops personalized treatment plans and goals in partnership with clients, managing a diverse caseload while employing clinical judgment to prioritize daily tasks. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are essential for this position. The Specialist also offers education and support to clients, families, and caregivers, functioning as a vital member of both the occupational therapy clinical team and the broader multidisciplinary healthcare team.
This role contributes to the clinical education of students in occupational therapy and related health disciplines, as well as supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants. Adherence to organizational policies and the professional standards set by the regulatory body is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver self-management programs alongside a multidisciplinary team for patients experiencing chronic pain.
- Provide services across the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio as needed.
Qualifications
We welcome applications from candidates who possess:
- A Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
- Mandatory licensure with the provincial regulatory body.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, capable of facilitating educational programs and fostering positive interactions with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- A commitment to fostering a culture of respect that promotes safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health.
- The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, effectively planning, organizing, and supervising tasks.
- Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the service and facility.
- Experience with patients facing complex chronic health issues and long-term pain is preferred.
- Experience in co-facilitating educational sessions with other team members is advantageous.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competencies in additional languages are a plus, with French being preferred.
Work Schedule
- Permanent, part-time position; 37.5 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage for this position is competitive. Successful candidates may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, along with a defined benefit pension plan.
