WSP Canada is on the lookout for a talented and forward-thinking Structural Engineer to become a part of our esteemed Structural Engineering Team. This role is based in our Calgary office and will report directly to the Team Lead of Structural Engineering. The successful candidate will collaborate with a diverse team to transform creative design concepts into tangible projects across various sectors.

This position entails significant interaction with clients, making it essential to either possess an existing network or demonstrate the ability to cultivate industry connections.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and manage small to medium-sized projects, or play a crucial role in larger project deliveries.
  2. Conduct engineering assessments and calculations for various structural materials, under the guidance of Senior Engineers.
  3. Utilize advanced design software and finite element modeling while applying fundamental engineering principles.
  4. Exhibit expertise in seismic design and a thorough understanding of relevant building codes.
  5. Coordinate project activities with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines.
  6. Ensure the production of high-quality project deliverables that meet exceptional standards.
  7. Oversee the preparation of detailed drawings, specifications, and ensure quality assurance.
  8. Prepare technical documentation and proposals.
  9. Occasionally travel for field reviews, inspections, and assessments.
  10. Engage in creative problem-solving for both new and existing structures.
  11. Promote diversity and inclusion within the workplace and in design processes.
  12. Advance computational design practices and enhance the integration of graphical and analytical models.
  13. Participate in identifying and securing strategic opportunities for the company.
  14. Utilize existing networks and build new relationships to support business development.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with the appropriate regulatory body.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Structural Engineering.
  • Proficiency in design software such as ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, SAFE, and/or Robot; familiarity with Dynamo and Grasshopper is a plus.
  • Experience in various project types, including institutional, healthcare, transportation, and commercial sectors.
  • Strong organizational and technical writing abilities.
  • A valid driver's license is considered an asset.
