Job Title: Technical Advisor for Sustainable Building Practices

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Advisor to join our team at the Canadian Home Builders' Association (CHBA). As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support to our committees and councils on GHG emissions reductions and climate change resilience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide advisory services on guides, codes, standards, and regulations related to residential construction.
  • Collaborate with provincial and local home builder association (HBA) offices across Canada to integrate GHG emissions reductions and resilient building practices into our Net Zero Home Labelling Program.
  • Liaise with CHBA committees, key government agencies, and strategic partners to develop and communicate technical matters related to emissions and resilience.
  • Monitor proposed and adopted changes to emissions and resilience related standards and regulations that affect the residential construction industry.
  • Participate on technical committees or groups that develop guides, codes, or standards that deal with GHG emissions and climate change resilience at the national level.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in architecture, engineering, or residential construction technology or a related field.
  • Experience participating in the development of technical documents, such as guides, codes, and standards.
  • Experience communicating technical information to a broad audience.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office, including MS Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, advancing multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated strong writing and presentation skills for a variety of audiences.
