Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team as a Dental Hygiene Specialist. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing a mobile school-based dental sealant program in the Richmond City Health District.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement oral health programs and services for school children, including preventive services, education, and outreach.
  • Collaborate with school nurses, administrators, and local public and private dentists to ensure seamless program delivery.
  • Manage and maintain patient records, inventory, and equipment, ensuring compliance with agency policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Supervise auxiliary staff and provide technical assistance to local and community agencies.
  • Develop and implement health education programs, including training and materials development.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Dental Hygiene or related field.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in MS-Word and MS-PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in public health dentistry or oral health education.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Ability to operate a portable dental unit.
