Role Summary:

Reporting directly to the Team Manager, this position serves as a subject matter authority on all corporate actions, income distributions, and proxy events for securities, both domestic and international, across various systems. The role necessitates adeptness in researching and resolving intricate issues, processing both mandatory and voluntary corporate actions, evaluating tax implications, and completing legal documentation such as escrows and tax reclaims. Additionally, the role involves minimizing the firm's exposure through effective depo alignment, processing market claims, managing escalations, and fostering strong relationships with issuers, depositories, and brokers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and execute departmental transactions, ensuring precise preparation and processing of corporate action events and entitlement payments, including both voluntary and mandatory actions.
  • Manage and record Dividend Reinvestment Plans (DRIP).
  • Process payments for Canadian securities through appropriate channels, including physical exchanges for privately held securities and preparing proxies for clients.
  • Handle complex and high-risk transactions that necessitate multiple touchpoints across various systems.
  • Ensure accuracy in announcements related to offers, conducting research and making necessary adjustments.
  • Serve as the primary contact for procedural inquiries and process-related questions.
  • Provide support to management by reviewing and overseeing departmental controls to mitigate risk.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in projects aimed at enhancing efficiency and adapting to evolving market standards.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, including brokers and counterparties.
  • Engage directly with clients and third parties through both verbal and written communication.
  • Adhere to policy and procedural changes to maintain robust controls.
  • Assist in developing procedures designed to strengthen quality and risk management controls.
  • Monitor key control reports for compliance and effectiveness.
  • Participate as a project lead or member in initiatives related to the Entitlements Team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Over five years of experience in the securities or brokerage sector, with at least three years focused on corporate actions and entitlement processing, including tax and legal considerations.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial transaction processing, settlements, and corporate actions/income.
  • Familiarity with reconciliation methodologies and standards.
  • Experience with Dataphile is advantageous.
  • Completion or enrollment in the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) course is beneficial.
