These positions are full-time and field-based, requiring a strong alignment with Terracon's core values: Safety, Integrity, Teamwork, and Entrepreneurism (S.I.T.E.). Our roles are primarily based locally but may occasionally include opportunities for fly-in/fly-out arrangements.

Current Roles Available

We are currently looking for candidates with Geology or Geoscience backgrounds to work on a variety of drilling, mining, heavy civil, and municipal projects. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring drilling operations (Sonic/Mud Rotary/Dual Rotary/Auger drilling rigs).
  • Engaging in production geology tasks at client locations.
  • Conducting geohazard assessments.
  • Describing geological core samples.
  • Sampling and mapping aggregates.
  • Performing geotechnical tests, readings, and installations – including Slope Inclinometers (SI), Monitoring wells, and Vibrating Wire Piezometers (VWP).
  • Participating in local and remote fieldwork, with shifts that may extend up to 12 hours.
  • Compensation will range from $31.00 to $38.00 per hour, based on experience.

Your Role at Terracon

As a valued team member, you will have opportunities that extend beyond your initial project and skill set, including:

  • Quality assurance and quality control monitoring for soils and concrete across various mining, heavy civil, and municipal projects.
  • Conducting field inspections and testing, including soil, earthwork, and concrete assessments to ensure compliance with project specifications and engineering standards.
  • Monitoring and inspecting piling operations.
  • Collecting data for environmental groundwater monitoring, pump testing, hydraulic conductivity testing, air quality assessments, and soil and surface water sampling.
  • Driving in active mining settings and interacting with heavy machinery.
  • Preparing technical reports, managing project timelines and resources, and ensuring adherence to deadlines and budgets.

What We Are Looking For

We seek individuals who possess:

  • A degree or diploma in Geology, Earth Science, Geoscience, Geo-Environmental studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and field experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • The ability to perform physical fieldwork and pass a fitness-for-work assessment.
  • The capability to work in safety-sensitive environments and comply with drug and alcohol testing protocols.
  • A desire to learn, share knowledge, and contribute to the growth of both themselves and the organization.
  • A commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in a technical field-based role is advantageous, as is familiarity with the geoscience sector.
  • Proficiency in off-road 4x4 driving and navigating winter conditions.
  • Certifications such as BSO/CSO, H2S & CCIL are beneficial.
  • Membership with ASET or APEGA is considered a plus.
