Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Therapist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) Program, you will work closely with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive clinical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide diagnostic client assessment and short and long-term individual, group, and family therapy, utilizing a variety of interviewing, counseling, and assessment methods.
  • Manage cases and formulate treatment plans and goals in conjunction with appropriate staff, including joint care plans with facility Directors of Care, assigned agency staff, and other services.
  • Use crisis intervention and assertive outreach as required, and facilitate clients' utilization of appropriate community services and rehabilitative programs.
  • Develop supportive and rehabilitative programs for adults and their families, and make arrangements for clients to be admitted to hospital when required.
  • Provide client care linkages between community Mental Health Services and acute care facilities, and liaise with Forensic Community Outpatient Clinic.
  • Assess clients for placement to and discharge from residential facilities, and make arrangements for client placement and care in residential facilities.
  • Provide support and direction to clients requiring enhanced case management, and provide follow-up care and services as required.
  • Update the Clinical Coordinator on the status of client treatment and progress, and maintain client records and statistics.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients, and provide education to clients, their families, and staff of residential facilities and other agencies.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in a relevant health-related discipline such as Clinical Counseling.
  • One year of recent, related experience in a community or hospital psychiatric setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Eligible for registration with relevant professional association.
  • Valid B.C. Driver's license and access to own vehicle, with appropriate business insurance coverage.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and understanding of mental illness, particularly early psychosis.
  • Demonstrated psychotherapy skills, including supportive, counseling, and cognitive-behavioral interventions, client assessment, and case management skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery-oriented approach in mental health.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the area of concurrent disorders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of pharmacological issues related to the identified population.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be required to work effectively and flexibly manage changing caseload needs under pressure, and during times of change.

The successful candidate will also be required to maintain appropriate confidentiality in accordance with applicable regional policies, and to learn new methodologies, ideas, and concepts.

The successful candidate will be required to provide effective and efficient service, while meeting clinical and administrative government and health region policies, standards, and protocol requirements.
