Job Title: Building Operator

Black & McDonald is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Operator to join our team. As a key member of our Facilities, Maintenance and Operations (FMO) team, you will be responsible for maintaining assigned client facilities located in Saskatoon and the surrounding area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute responsive and planned maintenance in accordance with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or facility management systems.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other subcontractors; supervise subcontractors.
  • Perform basic tours and log readings.
  • Respond to tenant complaints.
  • Perform light duties such as cleaning, painting, garbage removal, snow removal, HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical duties, assisting subcontractors' technicians and mechanics.
  • Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationships.
  • Assist in developing and implementing quality control programs.
  • Represent the company on matters such as business services.
  • Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients.
  • Assist in purchasing building materials.
  • Review work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correct deficiencies.

Education Requirements:
  • Current Fireman Boiler Operator Certificate (TSASK or equivalent).
  • Class 5 Power Engineering Certification would be an asset.
  • Construction trade certification in plumbing, HVAC, or electrical is beneficial.
Work Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Building Operator; experience in operating a commercial facility, preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with building automation systems and HVAC systems.
Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements:
  • This is a full-time position with some on-call and emergency out-of-office hours duties.
  • Must be able to pass and complete the requirements of a Security Clearance.
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment.
  • Communicates effectively, both written and verbal, excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use computers and related technology efficiently.
  • Clean Class 5 AB Driver's License.
