We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Personal Support Worker to join our team at Second Family Care. As a Personal Support Worker, you will provide high-quality care and support to our clients, enabling them to maintain their independence and dignity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal hygiene assistance, including showering, bathing, dressing, and eating
  • Remind clients to take prescribed medication and assist with ambulation
  • Help with mobility around the house or outside, including doctor's appointments and walks
  • Assist with personal care and hygiene, plan and prepare meals, and help with physical therapy exercises
  • Complete client shopping or accompany them to successfully do so
  • Follow each client's plan of care
  • Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
  • Offer activities essential for daily living, including assisting patients with meals, serving, and other tasks
  • Assist with ADLs, including personal hygiene, incontinence care, dressing and grooming, light massage and passive ROM, ambulation, positioning and transferring, feeding by mouth, and mouth care
  • Observe and report changes in condition
  • Assist with IADLs, including laundry and linen change, light housekeeping, meals and nutrition, and transportation planning
  • Provide companionship, social, and emotional support
  • Accompany clients on errands and to appointments via taxi
  • Work in a cross-professional healthcare team
Requirements
  • Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting and eager to improve and continuously learn new skills
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodations
  • Reliable transportation
  • Validated ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner
  • Available to work different shifts, including nights and/or weekends
  • Willingness to enforce health and safety standards
  • Supportive and compassionate
  • PSW certificate meeting technical and practical standards
  • Take pride in providing high-quality care
  • Clear enhanced Vulnerable Sector Check is required upon hire
  • Excellent communication skills
  • CPR certificate
