Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide and coordinate the delivery of psychiatric nursing care services to patients experiencing serious mental health and bio-psychosocial problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care of assigned clients
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate psycho-social rehabilitative plans in collaboration with clients' support systems and interdisciplinary team members
  • Provide individual and group treatment, using cognitive, behavioral, educational, problem-solving, and crisis intervention methods
  • Act as an advocate to protect and promote clients' rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and research by identifying patient care issues and collecting data
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing
  • One year recent related mental health experience in an acute, tertiary, or community setting
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessment and provide nursing care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety-type interventions
  • Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment, psychosocial rehabilitation, and recovery
  • Counselling and group facilitation skills
