Job Summary

The Academic Chair, Faculty of Technology is a key leadership position responsible for the academic and operational management of assigned programs at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent leadership and communication skills, able to foster a culture of excellence and innovation within the Faculty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Leadership
    • Develop and implement academic strategies to promote teaching excellence and student success.
    • Provide leadership to program areas, including curriculum development, accreditation, and quality assurance.
    • Ensure alignment with Saskatchewan Polytechnic's academic model and policies.
  • Resource Allocation
    • Manage resource allocation for assigned programs, including budget development and financial management.
    • Monitor financial performance and recommend budget adjustments as needed.
    • Identify and implement innovative solutions to resource challenges.
  • People Management
    • Manage human resources for program areas, including recruitment, selection, and training.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting employee engagement and development.
    • Address people management issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Student Affairs
    • Manage the student experience, including student recruitment, enrolment, and orientation.
    • Support student success strategies and monitor attrition rates.
    • Ensure consistent application of student conduct and academic policies.
  • Relationship Management
    • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners, government agencies, and educational institutions.
    • Represent Saskatchewan Polytechnic at relevant functions and events.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to promote program growth and excellence.
    • Forecast future trends and year-end results, and communicate as required to Senior Management.
    • Recommend measures to ensure strategic planning is aligned with stakeholder needs.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
  • Education
    • Master's degree in a field related to programs in the Faculty of Technology and Skilled Trades, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Leadership Experience
    • Proven leadership experience in a post-secondary institution or related field.
