Aquatics Leadership Program Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatics Leadership Program Specialist to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Toronto. As a key member of our Aquatics team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and processes that enhance the member experience in our aquatics programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement new programs and processes to improve member satisfaction and retention in aquatics programs.
  • Provide support to supervisors in the development and modification of aquatics programs and events, ensuring alignment with the YMCA's strategic plan.
  • Deliver programs that meet the YMCA's Mission, Vision, values, goals, and practices, including Priority SAM Standards.
  • Lead the YMCA Aquatics Quality process, including audits and ensuring compliance with Ontario Health Regulations 565.
  • Act as the Pool Operator and ensure the safety of all members, property, and staff.
  • Support the supervisor in maintaining relationships with the Life Saving Society and recruiting, coaching, and developing a team of volunteers, staff, and participants for aquatic leadership courses.
  • Build relationships with members and share the YMCA story, educating them on the YMCA as a charity.
  • Assist with scheduling and logistics of Aquatic Leadership courses and events.
  • Provide leadership and support as a member of the Centres' senior staff team and participate in task groups and special assignments that further the Association's mission and vision.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or degree in Recreation Leadership, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience delivering aquatics programs.
  • Certifications in National Lifeguarding Service Award, Life Saving Society FA Instructor, Life Saving Society Lifesaving Instructor, YMCA Swim Instructors certification, YMCA Trainer, and Life Saving Society IT.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certifications and WHMIS certification.
  • Previous experience in development and implementation of new programs an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to encourage, motivate staff and volunteers.
  • Proficiency with computer software, including Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and building a sense of belonging.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned hours of work, including days, evenings, and weekends.
