As our Transmission Line Engineer, you will be tasked with executing professional engineering assignments that support the efficient operation and maintenance of FortisBC's transmission systems and associated capital projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct professional engineering assignments to ensure the effective operation and maintenance of FortisBC's transmission systems and related capital projects.
  • Apply engineering principles, standards, and practices to achieve a balance among safety, health, environmental considerations, cost, construction, operation, maintenance, and performance criteria.
  • Collaborate as a team member during specific phases of engineering assignments, ensuring adherence to standards, best practices, and quality assurance.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for assigned projects and support enhancements and process redesign initiatives, including concept and business case development.
  • Perform detailed data analysis for planning; evaluate findings and prepare technical reports.
  • Review sections of moderately complex plans, designs, applications, and permits.
  • Work closely with other engineers, design technicians, project managers, construction managers, and operations personnel regarding project assessments, definitions, and coordination of tasks.
  • Maintain current knowledge in your field of expertise and engage in professional development activities to enhance skills and experience in more complex scenarios.

In your first year, you will:

  • Become familiar with FortisBC's standards, guidelines, and practices related to this role.
  • Gain field experience with PMO and Operations to understand our business operations.
  • Learn to effectively utilize PLSCADD software.
  • Understand the Issue for Construction (IFC) process from estimation through design completion, construction, and as-built documentation.

In your second year, you will:

  • Independently manage all key responsibilities with minimal guidance from senior engineers.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in civil or electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Proven ability to drive results through effective planning, alignment, execution, and customer responsiveness.
  • Strong decision-making skills, demonstrating accountability, judgment, problem-solving, and market awareness.
  • Capability to implement prudent changes through continuous improvement and innovative customer solutions.
  • Ability to foster working relationships based on respect, integrity, open communication, teamwork, and effective customer relationship management.
