Job Summary

FortisBC is seeking a Co-op Student to assist in the design and maintenance of overhead transmission lines. The successful candidate will work with engineers and managers to prepare designs and construction packages for transmission line projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and maintenance of overhead transmission lines
  • Prepare designs and construction packages for transmission line projects
  • Draft transmission design and standard drawings
  • Perform site visits to gather design information and inspect completed construction work
  • Analyze transmission line condition assessment information and create condition assessment reports
  • Use PLSCADD design software for transmission line design and analysis
  • Maintain transmission line records and file as-built data from completed transmission projects
  • Provide technical support to the Operations group and the Standards Group
  • Research technical information on new utility products and practices
  • Network with other utilities
Requirements
  • Electrical Engineering Student - Third or Fourth year preferred
  • Valid driver's license and current abstract
  • Interest in learning more about the Electrical Utility Industry
  • Competent public speaker
  • Experience or knowledge with AutoCAD and competence in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
