Required Qualifications


• Diploma in Practical Nursing from an accredited program is preferred.


• Current registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario is mandatory.


• If graduated before 1995, a medication administration certificate from an accredited community college is required.


• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is essential.


• Demonstrated clinical experience in patient-focused care, including strong skills in patient assessment, care planning, education, and documentation.

Additional Attributes


• Experience with electronic medical records is advantageous.


• Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario is beneficial.


• Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively engage with patients, families, and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications


• Recent completion of a physical assessment course is preferred.


• Membership in the Registered Practical Nurses' Association of Ontario (RPNAO) is preferred.


• A minimum of one year of recent nursing experience as a Registered Practical Nurse in an acute care environment within the last three years is preferred.


• Recent experience in Dialysis is preferred.


• Two to three years of experience in acute medical/surgical or complex chronic care is preferred.


• Successful completion of Nephrology 1 and 2 courses is preferred.


• Requirement to provide hemodialysis treatments primarily at designated satellite sites, with potential assignments to other locations.


• Willingness to participate in on-call duties for acute hemodialysis.


• Interest in working with both acute and chronic patients in a hemodialysis context.


• Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
