Job Summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Senior Capital Planner to join our team in the Corporate and Capital Planning Branch. As a key member of our team, you will provide planning support to our branch through a collaborative team approach, working with Alberta Health Services, Alberta Infrastructure, and other divisions at Alberta Health to support the development of planning documents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Development
    • Provide support for the development of project needs assessments and business case documents, ensuring all options have been considered and projects are in alignment with Ministry priorities, goals, objectives, and strategic directions.
    • Collaborate with Alberta Health Services and Alberta Infrastructure to develop planning documents for individual projects.
  • Programming Studies and Analysis
    • Analyze completed programming studies for alignment with Ministry goals and objectives.
    • Prepare recommendations for the approval of programming studies under the guidance of management.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Prepare briefings, ministerial correspondence, and responses to public inquiries on a wide range of issues.
    • Support the implementation and ongoing success of the health capital planning process as articulated in the Health Facilities Capital Program Manual.
  • Capital Planning and Budgeting
    • Support the development of the Alberta Health annual capital planning submission.
    • Analyze trends and issues as they relate to the provincial capital planning framework, identify gaps between long-term capital plans and government's strategic directions and priorities, and recommend approaches to align plans with the government's strategic direction.
  • Committee Participation
    • Participate in planning and project committees to support the Ministry through participation in planning, technical, and other health and project-related committees.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in capital planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement. You will be able to work independently or under limited direction, analyzing complex information and providing recommendations to support planning documents.
