Clinical Nurse Specialist

Position Overview
The Registered Nurse assumes essential professional duties while adhering to clinical practice standards and regional policies for the effective coordination and delivery of patient care in designated areas. This role involves collaboration within an interprofessional team and operates under the guidelines set forth by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) Standards of Practice, aligned with the nurse's level of expertise, training, and experience.
The Registered Nurse possesses the authority to make clinical decisions and delegate responsibilities to other healthcare personnel as necessary. Responsibilities may include Charge Nurse duties for specific units, where accountability for coordinating care, planning discharge services with external agencies, and managing resources efficiently is paramount. The Charge Nurse is expected to provide direction, supervise team activities, and demonstrate initiative and independence in fulfilling these responsibilities.

Qualifications and Skills
- Current active practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider, or ability to obtain within three months of employment
- Completion of Acute Care of at-Risk Newborns (ACORN) course or an acceptable equivalent
- Fetal health surveillance training
- Intrapartum nursing experience
- Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Training in Provincial Breastfeeding education to be completed within six months of starting
- Minimum of two years recent experience in relevant department/unit/program
- Proficient in Windows-based applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet usage
- Strong employment record required
