Employment Type: Full-time Support Position
Compensation: $41.12 per hour
Work Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Position Summary:
TechAlliance of Southwestern Ontario is dedicated to fostering a hybrid work environment, potentially allowing employees to perform their duties from alternate locations without disrupting operational effectiveness. Candidates must be prepared to work on-site as necessary. This is a full-time support role requiring 35 hours of work each week.
Key Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Lab Operations Manager, the successful candidate will deliver technical assistance and support to faculty, staff, and students in the daily management, upkeep, organization, and execution of Biology programs within the School of Applied Science and Technology. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring adherence to the biosafety protocols.
- Maintaining and repairing laboratory tools and equipment.
- Designing and constructing training aids.
Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Laboratory Technology, ideally with a focus on Microbiology.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field is advantageous.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a Microbiology laboratory setting, with proficiency in aseptic techniques.
- Experience in an academic or research-focused biology laboratory is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
- Demonstrated understanding of Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) biosafety regulations.
- Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act regarding the safe management of chemicals, live cultures, and hazardous waste.
- Exceptional organizational and planning abilities.
- Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
