WJS Canada is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.

As a Disability Support Specialist, you will work closely with clients, providing individualized support tailored to their unique needs and aspirations. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of areas, including:

Client Empowerment and Goal Achievement
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs), ensuring their goals are clearly defined and achievable.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance as clients work towards their ISP objectives, celebrating successes and offering encouragement during challenges.
Behavioral Support and Crisis Intervention
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors effectively and safely.
  • Respond promptly and compassionately to crisis situations, providing immediate support and ensuring the well-being of clients.
Skill Development and Community Integration
  • Assist clients in developing essential life skills within their homes and communities, including household chores, meal preparation, and personal care.
  • Facilitate social connections and community engagement, encouraging healthy relationships with family, friends, and peers.
Transportation and Recreational Activities
  • Provide transportation for clients within the community, ensuring their safe and comfortable travel.
  • Accompany clients on recreational, leisure, and vocational activities, promoting their social and personal growth.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and detailed daily reports, documenting client progress, interventions, and observations.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of ISPs and program-specific policies and procedures.
