Position Overview

We are in search of a skilled and energetic Operations Trainer to oversee and deliver all technical training at our facility. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Operations, this pivotal role involves crafting, executing, and assessing extensive training programs tailored to the cultivation, processing, and packaging of cannabis products. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in developing educational and training initiatives for adult learners within a manufacturing context.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Formulate and implement a comprehensive training and development strategy aligned with the company's objectives.
  • Ensure training initiatives correspond with business goals and the developmental needs of employees.
  • Remain informed about industry advancements and best practices to enhance training effectiveness.

Program Development and Management:

  • Create, execute, and manage extensive training programs, including role-specific onboarding and technical training.
  • Design tailored training solutions to meet the unique requirements of various departments and positions.
  • Review and refresh training materials, methodologies, and technologies to maintain their relevance and efficacy.

Support for Manufacturing Sites:

  • Coordinate and deliver operations-specific training programs across multiple manufacturing locations.
  • Guarantee uniformity and standardization of training materials, resources, and job aids throughout all sites.
  • Travel as necessary to evaluate training needs and implement programs at different locations.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Guide and mentor personnel responsible for delivering operations training across various departments.
  • Encourage a collaborative and innovative team environment.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with department leaders, HR, and senior management to identify training needs and priorities within operations.
  • Communicate training initiatives and results to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and support across functions.

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Establish metrics and KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of training programs.
  • Provide regular updates on training activities, participation, satisfaction, and performance improvements.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to refine and enhance training programs.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and oversee the training budget, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
  • Source and manage relationships with external training vendors and consultants as necessary.

Travel: This is an onsite role that may require travel to other sites as needed.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing effective training programs.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a methodical execution approach.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting on training metrics.

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

  • High level of integrity and honesty.
  • Functional proficiency in English (verbal and written).

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Organizational Development, or a related discipline.
  • 7-10 years of experience in training and development.
  • Certification in training (e.g., CPTD, ATD) is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel to various manufacturing sites as required.
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector or a comparable environment is highly desirable.
