Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Department team at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. As a Physician Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing clinical services under the direct supervision of Emergency Department attending Physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain health history and conduct comprehensive physical assessments to formulate a differential diagnosis and determine further clinical investigation needs.
  • Order preliminary diagnostic testing and follow-up, interpreting results to inform treatment plans.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, including preventive and therapeutic interventions, demonstrating appropriate procedural skills.
  • Collaborate with and seek consultation from supervising physicians and other healthcare professionals involved in patient care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited recognized Physician Assistant program in Canada or the United States.
  • Certification through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council (PACC) or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons Nova Scotia.
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants.
  • Medical Liability Insurance required.
  • Recent emergency medicine experience.
  • Certifications in ACLS, PALS, and ATLS.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, patient assessment, and telecommunications skills.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Compensation Details
  • $61.60 hourly ($90,402 - $120,120 annually).
  • This position is eligible for an additional 2% temporary market adjustment.
