Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Administrator to join our team at Avonhurst Church. As the primary point of contact for church members, adherents, visitors, and the general public, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  2. Administer and reconcile bank accounts, as well as process and reconcile credit card statements.
  3. Prepare and distribute financial reports, including monthly statements and year-end summaries.
  4. Manage and maintain confidential records, including personnel files and sensitive church documents.
  5. Provide administrative support to the Lead Pastor and other church staff, including scheduling appointments, preparing correspondence, and maintaining the church calendar.
  6. Develop and implement effective filing systems and record-keeping procedures to ensure accurate and efficient access to information.
  7. Coordinate and plan church events, including weddings, funerals, and other special services.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with church members, adherents, and the community, providing exceptional customer service and support.

Requirements

  1. Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  2. Bookkeeping course and Simply Accounting program.
  3. Proven experience in administrative support and bookkeeping.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  6. Strong organizational and time management skills.

Working Conditions

  1. Part-time position, 30 hours per week.
  2. Monday to Thursday, 9-4:30pm.
  3. Occasional overtime and irregular hours may be required.

Benefits

  • Salary review date: Fiscal Year End.
  • Vacation entitlement: 3/52 per year after one year of service, 4/52 after 10 years of service.
