About the Role

As a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our diverse fleet at Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. Reporting to the Fleet, Facilities & Purchasing Manager, your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining peak performance across a range of equipment, including snow cats, winch cats, snowmobiles, ATVs, heavy machinery, and fleet vehicles.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance to guarantee the longevity, safety, and optimal performance of all equipment.
  • Disassemble components for thorough inspection, identifying wear and tear or potential damage.
  • Execute repairs, replacements, cleaning, and lubrication tasks as required.
  • Maintain and calibrate vehicle electrical systems with precision.
  • Monitor hydraulic systems meticulously, addressing leaks, ruptured hoses, worn gaskets, and other issues. Calibrate or replace components as needed.
  • Foster open communication and trust within the team, collaborating effectively with staff and the Maintenance Manager.
  • Proactively initiate, manage, and delegate daily work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Meticulously document completed work and provide comprehensive reports on all shop-related activities within our CMMS system.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repair tasks are performed efficiently and responsibly, adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager in preparing the annual budget for vehicle maintenance.
  • Champion safety practices and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Actively participate in our health and safety program.
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required.
  • Embrace additional responsibilities as assigned.

Your Qualifications

  • Possess a valid Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic's ticket.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a heavy duty mechanics role. Experience within the ski industry is highly valued.
  • Journeyman welders and/or automotive mechanics will be considered.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with heavy industrial equipment (excavators, loaders, skid steers, etc.).
  • Previous experience working with snow cats and snowmobiles is a significant asset.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Hold a current valid driver's license.
  • Prior experience repairing undercarriage and track assemblies.
  • Previous experience repairing components such as frames and implements.
  • A welding ticket is an asset.
