Position: Field Engineer

Location: Midland, TX

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Field Engineer in Midland, tasked with regular travel to upstream Oil & Gas sites, including well pads. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting thorough Field Equipment Walkdowns and verifying P&ID against actual conditions.
  2. Updating P&ID and engineering documents based on field observations.
  3. Documenting equipment through photographs from various angles and connections using client-specific inspection applications on handheld devices (provided or personal).
  4. Collecting essential equipment data, including field identification and nameplate information.
  5. Handling equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
  6. Submitting daily reports of field activities to the office.
  7. Operating a company-provided 4x4 vehicle for site access, including off-road travel.
  8. Ensuring the vehicle is maintained in good working order.
  9. Processing expense reports through the company's online system.
This role is field-based, requiring a commitment of 5 days a week, with the following expectations:
  1. Adhering to safety protocols while performing tasks.
  2. Staying overnight at company expense when sites are located far from Midland.
  3. Renting a 4x4 vehicle at company expense if necessary.
  4. Exhibiting professionalism and following the Coordinator's daily instructions.
Qualifications & Experience
  1. High school diploma with 5 years of relevant experience.
  2. Engineering degree or diploma with 2 years of applicable experience.
  3. 2-5 years of relevant experience, with a maximum of 15 years.
  4. Familiarity with upstream Oil & Gas operations, particularly onshore well pads and facilities is advantageous.
Skills & Field Walkdown Expertise:
  1. Proficient in reading, interpreting, modifying, and creating engineering documents, including P&ID, PFD, Isometrics, Plant Layout, Plot Plan, and Equipment General Arrangement & Detail Drawings.
  2. Conducting plant walkdowns for P&ID and PFD verification against actual conditions and creating red/blue line mark-ups for discrepancies.
  3. Ability to sketch P&IDs, PFDs, Equipment Inspection Drawings, and Isometric drawings from scratch when necessary.
  4. Collecting critical equipment details from nameplates.
  5. Gathering missing information for equipment and pipelines during plant walkdowns.
  6. Strong coordination skills for sending hand-drawn/updated sketches back to the India office for AutoCAD conversion.
  7. Incorporating red-line mark-ups into AutoCAD drawings to produce As-Built documentation.
  8. Solid understanding of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, CAD/Graphics, and reading technical drawings.
  9. Knowledge of safety procedures to follow during plant walkdowns.
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite:
  1. Fully adept in MS Outlook, MS Teams, and MS Office tools.
  2. Willingness to configure MS Outlook, MS Teams, and other necessary applications on personal devices for daily operations.
  3. Ability to navigate company portals and tools for claims, timesheet entries, and attendance tracking.
Communication, Planning, and Reporting:
  1. Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English.
  2. Consistent and honest reporting of daily field activities to the Coordinator.
  3. Ability to plan weekly field activities for self and team based on projections, ensuring all necessary information and tools are gathered timely.
  4. Capability to prepare work requirement and QA/QC checklists.
  5. Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player with project focal points, team members, and clients.
  6. Effectively representing information and responding to inquiries in meetings.
