Position Overview

Under the direction of the Secretary Treasurer, the Senior Financial Accountant, who holds a CPA designation, is responsible for ensuring adherence to internal financial and accounting standards. This role includes assisting in the preparation of annual financial statements and interim financial reports.

This position is initially probationary and has the potential to transition into a permanent role, with options for part-time or full-time employment, ranging from 0.6 FTE to 1.0 FTE, based on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess and enhance accounting procedures to ensure service quality and precision
  2. Conduct monthly bank reconciliations
  3. Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes
  4. Facilitate the external audit process
  5. Manage the external payroll service provider
  6. Prepare quarterly financial reports
  7. Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and corporate tax filings
  8. Perform additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

Mandatory:

  1. Degree in accounting or finance
  2. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) certification
  3. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in an accounting role within a small to medium-sized organization

Preferred:

  1. Experience in the education sector or with a public accounting firm is advantageous
