About the Role

Atlantic Central is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Finance Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our commercial lending team, you will play a critical role in the growth and credit quality of our commercial real estate portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Business Development
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients to identify potential lending and deposit business opportunities.
  • Act as a backup for sourcing new business from partners, borrowers, and other stakeholders, including direct, credit union, and other referral sources.
Due Diligence and Analysis
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of applicants' financial statements, cash flow, business performance history, profitability, and personal net worth to assess credit worthiness and compliance with our commercial lending policies and guidelines.
  • Conduct market research and complete detailed credit applications for presentation to the appropriate credit authority.
  • Complete applications for CMHC Certificate of Insurance.
Commercial Mortgage Annual Reviews
  • Conduct credit investigations, gather pertinent information, analyze financial statements, and carry out site inspections (as required) to prepare commercial mortgage annual reviews.
  • Update risk ratings and recommend required actions to ensure the loan portfolio is operating as authorized.
Canada Mortgage Bond Transactions
  • Conduct detailed analysis of potential Canada Mortgage Bond transactions and prepare credit submissions for presentation to LSM's Executive Committee.
Loan Portfolio Management
  • Monitor the loan portfolio for missed payments, take timely measures, and contact clients to correct default payments.
  • Work with clients to consider debt restructuring, seeking credit approval, and preparing loan amendment documents as required.
  • Assist in the collections activity in relation to the foreclosure and sale of commercial properties, ensuring properties are inspected and adequately secured.
Market Research and Analysis
  • Stay current with market information and commercial mortgage market trends to identify business development opportunities and provide insights to the team.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Finance or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of commercial lending experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that supports your strong analytic skills.
  • Expert knowledge in CMHC criteria in relation to commercial loan origination and servicing is considered an asset.
