A TYPICAL WEEK:

Working as part of a dynamic team, you will contribute to the growth and credit quality of the commercial real estate portfolio by assisting with the management of the commercial loan portfolios, and preparing annual reviews for adjudication, and ensuring all accounts are operating as authorized. You will develop and manage relationships with existing clients. You will also assist with the analysis of potential Canada Mortgage Bond transactions and preparation of credit submissions and provide support to the collection of delinquent commercial loans. The Commercial Analyst will also be responsible for promoting and cross-selling other LSM and/or credit union products and services and to aid in developing and managing relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

Qualifications

To BE SUCCESSFUL:

As the ideal candidate you will have successfully completed a Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Finance or a related discipline plus have a minimum of 5 years Commercial Lending experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience which supports your strong analytic skills. Expert knowledge in CMHC criteria in relation to commercial loan origination and servicing is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

1. Actively contributes to the business development activities and management of AC & LSM's commercial loan portfolios by assisting with the following:

  • Contacting existing clients and acting on identified potential lending and/or deposit business opportunities.
  • Acting as backup on sourcing new business from AC and LSM partners, borrowers and other stakeholders including direct, credit union, and other referral sources (e.g., brokers, accountants, etc.).

2. Conducts appropriate due diligence and analysis to determine the strength of complex loan applications including, but not limited to:

  • Conducting comprehensive analyses of the applicants' financial statements, cash flow, business performance history, profitability and personal net worth of shareholders to assess credit worthiness and compliance with the company's commercial lending policies and guidelines.
  • Conducting market research and completing detailed credit application for presentation to the appropriate credit authority.
  • Completing applications for CMHC Certificate of Insurance.

3. Prepares commercial mortgage annual reviews by conducting credit investigations, gathering pertinent information, analyzing financial statements, carrying out site inspections (as required), pricing reviews, updating risk ratings and recommending required actions. Identifies opportunities for borrower's additional financing needs.

4. Conducts detailed analysis of potential Canada Mortgage Bond (CMB) transactions and prepares credit submissions to include in a recommendation to LSM's Executive Committee.

5. Monitors the loan portfolio for missed payments, takes timely measures and contacts clients to correct default payments. Where appropriate, works with the client to consider debt restricting, seeking credit approval and preparing any loan amendment documents. Assists in the collections activity in relation to the foreclosure and sale of commercial properties as required, ensuring that properties are inspected and adequately secured.

6. Stays current with market information and commercial mortgage market trends, including but not limited to, conducting research as required to help identify business development opportunities and information pertinent to our existing loan portfolios.
