Job Title: Project Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at the Ministry of Transportation. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for managing a variety of planning, preliminary, and detailed-design highway improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of projects, including acquisition and management of consultants.
  • Liaise and work with ministry staff, senior management, internal stakeholders, external agencies, municipalities, developers, consultants, and the public.
  • Lead and coordinate project teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Acquire, administer, and evaluate engineering service providers.
  • Resolve planning and engineering issues in a timely and effective manner.
Requirements:
  • Professional Engineer license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Strong project management skills, including experience with acquisition and management of consultants.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of civil engineering related to highway engineering.
  • Working knowledge of related fields, including geotechnical, pavement design, structural, drainage, surveys, electrical, traffic, and construction practices.
  • Knowledge of alternative delivery methods, such as functional outsourcing, Total Project Management, and Design Build.
