Director of Compliance and Risk Management

Cowan Insurance Group is seeking a highly skilled Director of Compliance and Quality Assurance to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring our company adheres to legal, regulatory, and standards compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain an enterprise risk management program to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with business leaders to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Audit business contracts to ensure compliance and maintain accurate records.
- Regularly assess company operations to identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions.
- Communicate with employees to ensure awareness of their responsibilities in complying with internal and external laws and regulations.
- Support information security programs and initiatives, including the SOC 2 security program.
- Ensure regulatory and legislative changes are implemented effectively by relevant business units.
- Monitor and assess E&O potential claims and other claims.
- Develop and maintain business continuity plans and programs, including disaster recovery and cyber response plans.
- Ensure all corporate and individual licensing is current and valid.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, finance, law, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of risk management experience, preferably in a financial services or insurance setting.
- Knowledge of Applied Epic and MS apps, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks, such as SOX, GDPR, and HIPAA.
- Designation such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) is an asset.
- Proven understanding of audit standards and methodologies, including risk assessment, risk mitigation, and risk management principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with employees, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Superior organizational and time management skills with experience handling multiple priorities and requests.
- Highly focused with attention to detail and ability to collaborate well with others.
