About the Role

Cowan Insurance Group is seeking a highly skilled Director of Compliance and Quality Assurance to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring our company's adherence to legal, regulatory, and standards compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise risk management program to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Audit business contracts to ensure compliance and maintain accurate records.
  • Regularly assess company operations to identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate with employees to ensure awareness of their compliance responsibilities.
  • Support information security programs and initiatives, including the SOC 2 security program.
  • Ensure regulatory and legislative changes are implemented effectively.
  • Monitor and assess E&O potential claims and other claims.
  • Develop and maintain business continuity plans and programs, including disaster recovery and cyber response plans.
  • Ensure all corporate and individual licensing is current and valid.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, finance, or law.
  • 10+ years of risk management experience, preferably in a financial services or insurance setting.
  • Knowledge of Applied Epic and MS apps, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks, such as SOX, GDPR, and HIPAA.
  • Designations such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) are an asset.
  • Proven understanding of audit standards and methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Highly focused with attention to detail and ability to collaborate well with others.
