Senior Project Controls Specialist

The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada, is poised to become one of the largest potash mines globally, situated approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon.
BHP's significant investment in the Jansen project aims to establish a potash mine designed with sustainability at its core.
As the largest investment in Saskatchewan's history, Jansen is anticipated to create around 5,500 job opportunities during construction and 900 long-term positions.
The construction phase will unfold over several years, with initial production expected in the future.
Once fully operational, Jansen is projected to achieve an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to expand to 16 to 17 Mtpa in subsequent phases.
Based in Saskatoon, the Senior Project Controls & Analysis – Cost, will be integral to the Jansen Project Controls & Analysis team, delivering value through specialized project expertise.
You will collaborate with a team of Project Controls professionals, fostered by a positive culture and strong leadership aligned with BHP's Charter Values.
Utilize your understanding of the business landscape, BHP's operational model, and methodologies to enhance decision-making, productivity, and overall value chain performance.
Plan, monitor, and execute cost management strategies on projects to generate value and achieve desired outcomes in collaboration with project stakeholders.
Identify, implement, and assess cost control methodologies to support the tracking, management, and reporting of project and package expenditures.
Establish routines to facilitate and coordinate cost management delivery on projects: manage budgets, assess incurred and accrual values, and forecast project costs.
Employ change management practices through established tools and methodologies to evaluate data, objectives, value, and strategic direction.
Support the commercial evaluation cycle for construction and procurement packages.
Facilitate communication between various stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to optimize project value.
Analyze and present data to create a comprehensive and accurate overview that informs decisions regarding project management, quality, cost, and control.
Encourage a culture of trust and performance within the team to achieve positive outcomes for the Jansen projects.
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Construction Management is a plus) is required.
Relevant experience in construction projects or similar environments is essential.
Experience in the industrial sector, including mining, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, forestry, utilities, transportation, and oil & gas, is highly desirable.
Possess a strong network across diverse project functions, with a solid reputation and a proven track record of engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
Demonstrate strong influencing skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across the entire project team.
Experience in capital projects across various phases is advantageous.
