Job Title: Resource Teacher

Central Okanagan Public Schools (School District No. 23) in Kelowna, BC invites applications from dedicated and enthusiastic professional educators for full year, full time, and part time temporary contracts.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Resource Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing educational support to students with special needs in K-12 settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and evaluate programming for students with special needs in K-12 settings.
  • Provide educational support to students with special needs, including those with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other exceptionalities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Supervise and support Certified Education Assistants in their work with students.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education and adapt curriculum to meet the needs of students with special needs.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with special needs in K-12 settings.
  • Strong knowledge of BC Ministry of Education policies and guidelines related to special education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Education of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and current practices in Special Education.
  • Experience working with Special Education technology and/or willingness to attend training sessions to enhance skills in these areas.
  • Training/experience in Quality Assessment practices (e.g., differentiated instruction, criterion-referenced grading, assessment for, of, and as learning).
What We Offer:

The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $57,972 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
