Job Title: Resource Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic professional educator to join our team as a Resource Teacher. This is a full-year, full-time, and part-time temporary contract position.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating programming for students with special needs in K-12 settings. They will work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents, students, community support personnel, and colleagues in Student Support Services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement transition programming, including vocational and life-skills programming for secondary education.
  • Provide effective supervision of Certified Education Assistants.
  • Modify and/or adapt curriculum in accordance with BC Ministry of Education Special Education Policy and Guidelines.
  • Be thoroughly familiar and experienced with all aspects of the IEP process.
  • Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents, students, community support personnel, and colleagues in Student Support Services.
Requirements:
  • Have completed advanced study in Special Education, including courses in Children with Exceptionalities.
  • Be able to design, implement, and evaluate programming for students with special needs in K-12 settings.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents, students, community support personnel, and colleagues in Student Support Services.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have current/recent training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Education of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and current practices in Special Education.
  • Have experience working with Special Education technology and/or be willing to attend training sessions to enhance skills in these areas.
  • Be trained or willing to be trained in programs that focus on positive decision making, conflict resolution, anger management strategies, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Have experience providing liaison with external agencies, school, and home for children in need of social, emotional, and behavioral support.
What We Offer:

The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $57,972 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
