As part of the collaboration with the Customer Insights Data and Analytics teams alongside our IT partners, the Data and Analytics Technology team is dedicated to supporting the bank's Data and Analytics requirements through various tools, projects, and operational IT support. The role of the Cloud Support Engineer encompasses responsibilities related to platform reliability, monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting initiatives bank-wide that are supported by Data and Analytics Technology. This includes building platforms, developing tools, integrating processes, automating workflows, enhancing platforms, and delivering new projects.

  • Provide clear guidance to the team, establish objectives, and ensure accountability for deliverables. Align team objectives with the overall direction of the platform.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of GCP services, platform architecture, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality support for platform users, adhering to established SLAs and service objectives.
  • Continuously enhance platform processes and standard operating procedures to drive efficiency and automation.
  • Build strong relationships with the platform user community. Communicate effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance challenges to guarantee optimal system functionality.
  • Analyze, triage, and promptly resolve platform issues to meet reliability objectives.
  • Provide support during critical incidents, including after-hours assistance. Develop strategies for incident response and user communication.
  • Design, construct, and implement cloud logging and monitoring solutions, improving existing systems for early issue detection.
  • Design and deploy solutions utilizing standard public cloud services such as Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Vertex AI Notebooks, Cloud Run, and Cloud Functions, leveraging Terraform Modules.
  • Maintain and enhance the Release Control Management pipeline using Terraform, Cloud Build, and version control systems.
  • Implement CI/CD processes by designing industry-standard Cloud Build for deploying infrastructure and analytics workloads using Terraform, Docker, Cloud Build, and other deployment activities.
  • Set up Hashicorp Vault and Secret Manager for secure secret management. Integrate security solutions with client interfaces.
  • Guide clients through user acceptance testing for component and base image upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Regularly engage with product vendors and technical support to fine-tune and troubleshoot software components, ensuring optimal system performance and reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers in best practices for building, deploying, testing, and supporting services, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Do you possess the skills necessary for success in this role? We would love to collaborate with you if you have experience in:
  • Managing and supporting platforms and applications with a significant user base.
  • Utilizing public cloud services, with GCP certification being a plus.
  • Employing Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
  • Using DevOps tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, and Terraform Cloud.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Go, or Java for automation and scripting.
  • Experience with Docker, including setting up and managing Docker registries and creating Dockerfiles.
  • Setting up Kubernetes or similar platforms in cloud or on-premise environments.
  • Understanding continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and optimizing them for efficient software delivery.
  • Knowledge of overlay networking for inter-container communication across nodes and external servers.
  • Building CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub and Artifactory to enhance quality and reduce cycle times.
  • Automating system deployments and configuration management with tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, or Saltstack.
  • Virtualization technologies such as VirtualBox, Hyper-V, Docker, or VMware.
  • Strong scripting capabilities in shell scripting, Python, Perl, or Ansible for automation tasks.
  • Experience with source control systems like Git.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms like Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
