Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering & Maintenance Manager to join our team at Garaga inc. in a full-time, permanent position.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our engineering team and overseeing the maintenance of our manufacturing equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and management, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Ensuring the safety of our employees and the quality of our products
  2. Supporting production with engineering solutions
  3. Managing and/or assisting all engineering team projects
  4. Managing and/or assisting with project development for other plants
  5. Assisting with machine troubleshooting for plant equipment, damaged machinery, or downtime issues
  6. Responsible for the reverse engineering of old machines including drawings
  7. Ensuring all machines are up to date in relation to safety requirements
  8. Developing new products
  9. Developing equipment - Conduct diagnostics for current issues and to be able to test productivity and reliability of equipment and processes
  10. Engineering team's task assignments - coach, mentor engineering team
  11. Establish project timelines, ensure all projects are delivered on time
  12. Oversee the engineering team and their projects
  13. Act as a technical resource
  14. Conduct meetings with other branches to ensure consistency and efficiency
  15. Review design strategies
  16. Monitor line 1 performance and review production reports
  17. Monitor plant to separate issues with scope of maintenance vs. those in need of engineering solutions
  18. Review current methods, processes, and technology in relation to market trends and technological opportunities
  19. Responsible for planning projects in coordination with other departments
  20. Adjust for health and safety as required
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  2. A minimum of 5 years of management experience, preferably in a high-tech manufacturing environment
  3. Experience managing teams
  4. Competence creating engineering and other technical data, drawings, schematics, assembly process documents, product specifications
  5. PLM experience including BoM control for product families
  6. Familiarity with ERP systems
  7. Strong focus on continuous improvement, Lean Methodology, Theory of Constraints
  8. Experience using CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, as well as strong computer literacy
  9. Keen attention to detail and follow through for assigned tasks
  10. Experience with Jira, Confluence, automation, and Arena PLM: Assets
Physical Demands:

The successful candidate will be required to:

  1. Walk the floor up to six hours per day one or two days per week
  2. Regularly stand, squat, stoop, bend, and reach throughout the day
  3. Require extraordinary hand-eye coordination and ability to work in a fast-paced area
  4. Maneuver around tight spaces
  5. Occasionally lift to 20 to 30 lbs
