We are seeking a Systems Administration Specialist 1 to become a vital member of our expanding Technology Services Team. In this role, you will contribute significantly to our mission, embracing challenges and demonstrating our core values of respect, integrity, collaboration, accountability, and service. Reporting to the Supervisor of Infrastructure Services, the Systems Administration Specialist 1 will provide essential support for various technology systems and critical applications that serve E-Comm and its partners.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring system performance, addressing performance-related issues, installing system components, executing software and hardware upgrades, responding to service requests, and collaborating with the service desk and other technicians to troubleshoot and resolve service interruptions. Proficiency in SCCM will be particularly beneficial for this role.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Installing, maintaining, and supporting server and workstation operations in line with performance and availability standards; assisting in enhancing the service performance of critical applications and ensuring system security.
  • Monitoring alerts from various technology systems; managing network storage capacity and server virtualization while ensuring successful backup processes.
  • Troubleshooting incidents and performance issues; escalating to senior resources as necessary and participating in the resolution of diverse technical challenges.
  • Administering user access and rights in accordance with established protocols.
  • Developing and maintaining scripts to automate routine tasks.
  • Installing and configuring workstations and both physical and virtual server environments.
  • Planning and coordinating small-scale projects, including hardware upgrades and data migrations.
  • Creating and executing checklists and test plans, documenting processes, and providing user training as needed.
  • Recommending new hardware and software solutions, and managing small-scale procurements upon approval.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a degree or diploma in computer science or a related field, along with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ITIL Foundation v3 or later certification is preferred.
  • Understanding of Windows operating systems within an Active Directory environment.
  • Familiarity with best practices in technology service management, IT security, and data center operations.
  • Knowledge of centralized storage management and protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience with Citrix and virtualization technologies is highly advantageous.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must obtain and maintain the required Police Security Clearance for this position, facilitated by our law enforcement partners. A minimum residency in Canada of 3-5 years is necessary to qualify for this process.

VACCINATION POLICY: E-Comm 9-1-1 has a vaccination policy that is currently suspended. Should it be reinstated, compliance will be required for all employees.

JOB DETAILS:

  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Wage/Salary: PG 25| to hourly; $92,040 to $108,555 annually (2024 rates)
