Your RoleAs a Hygiene and Safety Technician, you will collaborate closely with the Hygiene and Safety team.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Implementing and advocating for Englobe's health and safety protocols.
- Coordinating and executing assigned tasks related to the management and execution of environmental projects, which may involve:
- Conducting assessments related to Designated Substances and Hazardous Materials, industrial hygiene investigations, asbestos and mold evaluations, indoor air quality assessments, potable water inspections, and radon testing.
- Overseeing and validating site remediation efforts.
- Documenting field observations, analyzing data, and evaluating results.
- Contributing to the preparation of technical reports and proposals.
- Participating in project and office meetings, as well as health and safety inspections.
- Maintaining a commitment to exceeding client expectations through high-quality work.
- Exhibiting professionalism and objectivity while collaborating with colleagues and clients requiring varying levels of support.
- Managing challenging situations with tact and diplomacy to foster positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Building and nurturing client relationships, along with performing project administration tasks as needed, including time-sheet management, organization and filing, and equipment calibration and maintenance.
- Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary.
- A university degree or college diploma in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, environmental engineering, earth sciences, environmental technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience in environmental assessment or fieldwork.
- Preferred certifications include Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH), or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
- Familiarity with provincial and federal environmental regulations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Experience supervising contractors on-site.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- A team-oriented mindset and exceptional communication abilities.
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Willingness to travel to remote locations as required.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and commitment to occupational health and safety.
