The Primary Care LPN operates as a vital member of the interprofessional team, utilizing best practices to deliver competent, safe, and ethical care to individuals and their families across various settings, including medical practices, residences, educational institutions, and community environments.

The Primary Care LPN is responsible for delivering care that encompasses clinical follow-up in accordance with the individual's Primary Care Plan and personal health objectives, contributing to care plans developed in partnership with the interprofessional team.

The Primary Care Licensed Practical Nurse conducts assessments, formulates plans, implements, and provides both personal and nursing care to individuals. The LPN is authorized to administer oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications, adhering to pharmaceutical and organizational guidelines and protocols.

The range of skills performed by the LPN may vary based on the predictability of outcomes for specific populations.

The LPN practices in accordance with competency guidelines and the full scope of practice as defined by the BC College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP), alongside organizational policies, procedures, standards, and unit-specific protocols.


Compensation :
The updated wage is: $41.35/hour

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Practical Nurse program with a minimum of one (1) year of recent, relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current registration with the BC College of Nursing Professionals as a practicing LPN registrant (BCCNP).
  • Valid BC Driver's License.

  • Proven knowledge and skills within the defined scope of practice for LPNs, tailored to the patient population based on the nature of the caseload (e.g., acute care, gerontology, palliative).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to implement care plans effectively.
  • Proficient in operating relevant equipment and utilizing applicable computer applications.
  • Physical capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
