Position Overview

As a vital member of the Wealth Data & Analytics division, you will play a crucial role in steering the data and analytics objectives for Wealth Management, a key growth area for the organization. Wealth Management encompasses diverse business lines such as Digital Investing, Private Wealth Canada, U.S. Wealth, Asset Management, and Insurance.

In this Senior Manager role within the Wealth Data Management Office, you will work closely with the Data Management Lead to provide strategic insights and recommendations aimed at enhancing the overall Wealth Management Data Governance Program. This involves adhering to enterprise-wide data principles to ensure robust data quality and mitigate data-related risks. Furthermore, you will collaborate with individual business data owners to promote the adoption of data management practices and governance across all Wealth business units, aligning with the Wealth Management Data Governance Program.

Your responsibilities will include fostering a culture that recognizes data as a valuable corporate asset. This requires building strong partnerships with Business and Technology counterparts to manage metadata and data flows that facilitate data utilization and impact assessment for critical business decisions, regulatory reporting, and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor in data management, designing Wealth data governance strategies, processes, and best practices while ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide data principles, policies, and guidelines.
  • Contribute to overall business planning and roadmaps to prioritize data management coverage across Wealth Management data assets for regulatory and compliance needs.
  • Act as an expert in relevant data regulations, networking internally and externally to gather industry insights and best practices in data governance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to oversee the effectiveness of the Wealth data management and governance program, identifying and mitigating current and emerging risks.
  • Support the management of BMO's data as a critical asset that facilitates efficient decision-making.
  • Analyze both structured and unstructured data to assist in designing and implementing a curated data model for the business/group.
  • Foster effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Monitor and report on data management requirements and compliance matters, their effects, and resolution status to leadership and the data governance team.
  • Conduct quality assurance tasks to ensure compliance in the handling, storage, and collection of data as per Bank Policy and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Typically requires 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
  • Proficient in data management tools, with experience in Informatica being beneficial.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis environments and BI tools is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Data-driven decision-making ability.
